The following article explains how to generate a Certificate Signing Request (CSR).
First, log in to the serve using SSH, then enter the command (replace domain-name with the name of the real domain name): # openssl req -new -newkey rsa:2048 -nodes -keyout domain-name.key -out domain-name.csr Next, enter in the requested information, here is an example:
- Country Name: US - State: Florida - Locality Name: Tampa - Organization Name: My Company - Organizational Unit Name: DBA name --or-- empty - Common Name: domain-name.com --or-- *.domain-name.com (for wildcard cert) - Email Address: firstname.lastname@example.org - A challenge password: ****** - An optional company name: (optional)
Copy the domain-name.csr and use it to generate the certificate. Copy the domain-name.key, and domain-name.crt (once received), to the SSL directory and configure the Web server.
