Slate is a template engine that was developed to replace other existing PHP template engines that are bulky and sluggish.
You can find a small list below explaining some of features that Slate offers. Some of these features include speed, logical advantages, and easy to learn, use and implement.
Slate uses dynamic compiling, which means faster output and no writing compiled files to the server unless caching is used. One reason our template engine is so fast is because the small size of the main Slate class (under 1000 lines of code). Another reason for the template engine quickness is the ability to cache application pages, and that leads to reduced application load and response time.
Even though our template engine is slender it still has the required functionality of a robust template engine. With Slate you can use variables (display and set), access environment and request data with ease, use objects properties and methods in template files, and use control structures like if-else statements and loops.
Easy to Learn and Use
Slate is very simple to use and learn. Use our Quick Start guide to start implementing Slate today! We also have an entire section of our Website dedicated to documentation. The documentation section explains each tag and more complex object topics that can help you learn and get the most out of our template engine.
Slate is open source software and that means you can use the template engine as it exists, or you can modify it to better fit your development requirements. We welcome all types of feedback and suggestions that can improve Slate.
